This is the support Page for WebDev1 - the Book, which you may freely download in .docx and .pdf formats. This textbook is used for my class CPTE 110 Intro to Web Development at Southern Adventist University.
If you've come to this site because you are planning to take CPTE 212 and have asked me to waive the JOUR 242 or CPTE 110 prerequisite, you should focus on lesson 5.
Doing the projects in this textbook requires access to a Web server - that's one of the things that makes this class different from an HTML class. Any current student at Southern Adventist University may have an account on this server for that purpose - just email me jbeckett /at/ southern.edu. If you want to do it on your own server, you might look into XAMPP

* The Macintosh has a layer of protection against malware over and above what Microsoft Windows provides. In order to provide this protection, Mac OS will not allow programs to run unless they have been registered with Apple. The free programs recommended here have not been so registered. In order to run them, you will have to lower the protection level. Changing your Mac Security Settings to allow downloaded software to run
Note: This procedure reduces your protection against malware. For best protection, you should select a higher protection level except when doing homework in this class. |
